In order for SoundHound to work properly, it needs certain permissions when you download the app. Here’s a breakdown of why we ask for these:
-
Your Location - To add your location information to your music map, which shows you where you were when you IDed a song. We also include your searches in the World Map, which gives users a glimpse at what others are searching for around the globe. *You can turn off location sharing in the app settings.
-
System Tools - To conserve battery life when SoundHound is in the background.
-
Hardware Controls - To record audio for identifying songs, for performing searches when you sing or hum.
-
Phone Calls - To detect incoming calls while SoundHound is in use, so you can answer them.
-
Storage - To store data on the SD card so SoundHound can load and run faster.
-
Network Communication - To complete searches and provide content, such as a song's audio preview and artist biography.
Please note that SoundHound does not collect personally identifiable information through the app.
